The Dung Quat refinery is the first oil refinery in Vietnam. Located in the middle of the country, it has a designed capacity to handle 6.5 million tons of crude oil annually. NRG Engineering has been supporting the Technip-JGC-Tecnicas Reunidas JV in this groundbreaking project at multiple levels and stages of the project.
“In the two years since working on DQR, NRG Engineering has shown consistency and dedication in supporting our construction and commissioning teams.” – Bruno Le Roy, Dung Quat Refinery Site Manager
The core of the engineering was done from Technip Malaysia’s office in Kuala Lumpur. NRG Engineering was involved in the project management team in charge of the jetty, storage tanks, and oil/gas movements & transportation engineering.
As the project moved to site, so did NRG Engineering’s team which grew considerably as new support was needed in field engineering and construction supervision for civil, mechanical, instrumentation and electrical works.
One of NRG Engineering’s Senior Consultant was involved early on as the authority for all welding engineering. Additional support came later from NRG Engineering to supervise inspection and NDT testing.
A lot of surveying, contracting, and invoicing was required on what was Vietnam’s largest construction project ever. A team from NRG Engineering handled a large portion of this phenomenal task.
NRG Engineering became one of the preferred providers of commissioning services on DQR, with large teams being mobilized for pre-commissioning, commissioning, operations, safety and handover to the client.
