With the launch of PetroVietnam’s offshore Block B, oil giants have been bidding for a slice of relevant project scopes released by the project owners and operators.
Vietnam’s Block B is a greenfield offshore gas project, comprising of an offshore gas field and pipeline development in Southwest Vietnam. The project will have a 431km-long pipeline to supply gas to a landfall station, while a 102km-long onshore pipeline will supply gas to power plants at Kien Giang and O Mon Power Centres in Can Tho province. A branch pipeline will also connect to a landfall station at Mui Tram, supplementing gas for the PM3 – Ca Mau pipeline.
In 2015, Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) acquired the complete ownership of the Block B from Chevron and became the operator. The block is targeted to produce first gas by Q2 2020.
